Supporting our communities around the world

As a company dedicated to saving lives and improving the quality of life for people with rare and serious conditions, we believe that helping our patient communities and advancing knowledge in our therapy areas is part of our corporate responsibility. We also recognize that we have a role to play in contributing to humanitarian programs and relief efforts around the world, and that closer to home, our responsibilities extend to supporting critical needs and sustainable development in our local communities. To support our focus areas, CSL Behring has developed a global community framework that includes:

Supporting Our Local Communities

We seek out opportunities to support the local communities in which we live and work and endeavor to do our part during emergency disaster situations.

Community Objectives

In seeking to achieve our community objectives, we look for opportunities that utilize our unique capabilities and involve our employees and other stakeholders. We provide monetary or product donations, sponsorships, research and education grants and scholarships as well as in-kind support to worthy and credible non-profit organizations. We enter into strategic partnerships with these organizations where this will enhance the overall effort. We also match and support certain contributions made by our employees to their local communities.

CSL Behring works within the community framework to optimize community support relative to its operations. Within our business units, marketing, public affairs and human resources are the key functions usually involved in strategy development and program implementation.

Interactions With Patient Organizations

CSL Behring is fully committed to saving and improving the lives of patients. Supporting and partnering with patient organizations is one key way to fulfill that commitment and we have a long and strong history of doing so.

The company provides financial support and shares expertise to help patient organizations fulfill their missions of building patient communities, increasing knowledge, awareness and diagnosis of conditions, and working to assure access to care, including therapies. CSL also gains perspective from these organizations to help guide our efforts to serve patient needs, including better understanding of the burden of a condition, the challenges faced by patients and families, and the role we can play.

CSL Behring’s approach to community contributions, including support for patient organizations, is detailed in Our Code of Responsible Business Practice (CRBP), which is set by the Board. Along with our values, the CRBP requires our interactions to be ethical, appropriate and professional. Furthermore, our Global Community Contributions Policy, which is set by the Global Corporate Responsibility Steering Committee, provides further guidance around the types of contributions and the reporting/transparency requirements for all community contributions.

CSL Behring provides all contributions with a focus on patient benefit and fully in compliance with local laws and regulations.
