Internship Program

As an Intern in the Manufacturing stream you will be involved in assuring the continuous and safe manufacturing of products. You will gain experience in day-to-day plant operations and contribute to process efficiency projects.

You will have the chance to:

• Conduct risk assessments for material changes within the process
• Investigate and provide preventative solutions to manufacturing process deviations
• Connect stakeholders from multiple business units (Regulatory Affairs, Plant Operators, Validation) to bring about changes to the process
• Assist in the technical transfer for new processes and validation of new equipment
• Optimise process variables to reduce the risk to the business

Preferred degrees/ disciplines: Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Process, Biomedical), Microbiology/Immunology, Pharmaceutical Science, Chemistry, Science, Biotechnology

Location: Broadmeadows & Tullamarine - Melbourne 

As an Intern in the Engineering stream, you may be placed into roles within a variety of engineering departments such as capital projects, automation, maintenance, production and utilities. Overall, you will learn and utilise problem solving and management skills to provide continuous site improvements and ensure safe manufacturing of products at our sites.

You will have the chance to:

• Deliver on capital projects to upgrade site equipment
• Work with operators to ensure products are delivered on time to our patients
• Conduct breakdown analysis of vital processing equipment
• Support long term projects to improve site services, such as air and water
• Design and execute tests to verify the correct operation and performance of equipment

Preferred degrees/ disciplines: Engineering - Mechanical, Chemical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Process, Biomedical

Location: Broadmeadows, Melbourne

As an undergraduate in the Operational Excellence stream, you will be involved in activities that support the efficient delivery of our products to our patients. You will have the opportunity to work with the local and global OE team who work across multiple streams in the business including Manufacturing operations, Quality and Data Analytics enabling the implementation of the company strategy. Through this program you will have the opportunity to gain insight across multiple disciplines, gaining both local and global context building foundational capability that is transferable to all roles in our manufacturing facilities.

You will have the chance to:

• Develop and implement approved improvement initiatives, aligned to our company strategy and our Compelling Business Needs (CBN)
• Contribute to the ongoing development of continuous improvement mindset by leveraging our End to End Operating System and the associated tools in our ‘tool kit’
• Leverage off data analytics to create process insights enabling data driven decision making affecting areas such Yield, Capacity, Cycle Time and Right First Time.
• Contribute to the delivery of workshops and training using Lean Methodology and best practice improvement frameworks

As an intern in the Quality stream, you will be involved in assuring the continuous, safe manufacturing of our products. We are committed to the development, production and marketing of safe and efficacious healthcare products that maximise benefits to all stakeholders. Our approach to quality ensures our products; processes and services meet the needs of our patients as well as our regulatory requirements through robust processes.

You will have the chance to:

• Assist with regulatory audits and submissions
• Support process simplification, process robustness and compliance improvement projects
• Ensure the safe release of our products to market
• Gain experience in a laboratory setting

Location: Broadmeadows & Tullamarine - Melbourne

As an Intern in the I&T stream, you may be placed into roles within a variety of I&T departments such as I&T Service Delivery, Infrastructure, R&D or Manufacturing Platforms. Overall, you will learn and utilise problem solving, digital-data & analytics and communication skills to provide a robust delivery of I&T services to the CSL Australian Manufacturing, R&D and Commercial businesses.

You will have the chance to: 

Deliver on digital capital projects to upgrade core infrastructure and application ecosystems

• Embed within business operations and governance processes to ensure products are delivered on time to our patients
• Review, define and implement new Service Delivery metrics to ensure the stable delivery of I&T services 
• Design, build and implement digital, data and analytic solutions within our R&D and Manufacturing businesses to drive enterprise value and standardisation

Location: Melbourne / Broadmeadows 

As an Intern in the Corporate and External Affairs stream you will be involved in activities that support CSL’s Communications and Government Affairs strategy, contributing to and promoting positive employee culture and building the company’s reputation with stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to work with the local and global Corporate and External Affairs team who work across multiple streams including Internal Engagement, Corporate Affairs and Media, Digital communications, Government and Public Policy, and Community Relations. You will gain experience in day-to-day operations in a dynamic manufacturing environment and contribute to projects at our Australian sites.

You will have the chance to:

• Leverage and further develop your written, verbal, multimedia and digital communications skills with hands-on experience implementing communications campaigns
• Help plan and showcase activities, events and conferences for our Australian employees
• Contribute to the development of CSL’s community and employee engagement strategy for 2027
